Hmm, well you get the answers by dividing each number in each of those sets, if they all divide into whole numbers when divided by 4, then the GCF is 4, but if one of them doesn't divide by 4 into a whole number than the GCF has to be 2.

An example being {24+32+12} 24/4 = 6, 32/4 = 8, 12/4 = 3. But on the second set of terms, {26+24+20} 26/4 = 6.5 so that set has to be a GCF of 2 instead of 4
