Complex sentences hav a subordinate clause or clauses (a clause that cannot stand alone as a complete sentence; it merely complements a sentence's main clause). So looking at ze first question, "On seeing the timid deer, the hungry lion pounced on it." we can make it a complex sentence by adding a subordinate clause. An example would be as followed: On seeing the timid deer, the hungry lion, who had hunted many deer before and therefore knew what to look for, pounced on it. The subordinate clause used there is "who had hunted many deer before and therefore knew what to look for" which is called an adjective clause.
my teacher said u can't add any extra sentences u can only add some conjuctions like and, so, after , etc
Oh so you cannot add any more words? I did not add a sentence because it cannot stand alone.
wait
'As the hungry lion saw the timid deer, it pounced on it' is my sentence right?
The first given one, yes.
huh
Oh wait. You switched it up.
That sentence doesn't have a subordinate clause.
oh um ok let's do the next one
To change "All the visitors appreciated the paintings which were displayed in the room." we must first identify the subordinate clause that has been added to make it a complex sentence. The trigger word for that here is "which", so to change the whole thing back to a simple sentence, we must remove that whole section. This turns it into "All the visitors appreciated the paintings."
(The type of clause used was an adjective clause btw)
waitt is this correct? 'When the hungry lion saw the timid deer,he pounced on it.'
I think so
