\[5\frac{5}{8} = \frac{5\times8+5}{8}\]
TutoriaIs:
\[5\frac{ 5 }{ 8}\]
Mutiply the 5 times 8 \[\frac{ 5\times8+5 }{ 8}\]
snowflake0531:
which you then get \(\frac{45}{8}\), dividing by a number means multiplying it by its reciprocal
\[\frac{45}{8}\times\frac{1}{5}\]
Logan2020:
im lost
snowflake0531:
\[a \div b = a \times \frac{1}{b}\]
yeah?

is it 1.125 as a decmel
TutoriaIs:
Wait, can't you just cross out each 5 on the equation?
Since it's a Mutiplication~Division?
snowflake0531:
since mixed numerals are hard to multiply and divide with, we first change it into an improper fraction, still the same value though, so 5 5/8 is 45/8, same thing
then we need to divide 45/8 by 5
and since dividing by a number is multiplying its reciprocal, it is 45/8 * 1/5
TutoriaIs:
Then, what's left is your answer?
Logan2020:
1 5/40
