I think since it's division, we subtract

yes when you divide number with exponents you subtract the exponents

UkuleleGirl:

FINALLY I'm ready to get this done.

UkuleleGirl:

OK let me see here

UkuleleGirl:

So I would subtract \[y^3-y^6\]

SwaggyMark:

\[\frac{ y ^{3} }{ y ^{6}}=y ^{3-6}\]

SwaggyMark:

but because 3 - 6 = -3 and we want to use only positive exponents we leave it as y^3 and just keep it as part of the numerator bc y^-3 is the same as saying 1/y^3

UkuleleGirl:

Okay but what about the \[5x^7 \] and the \[125x^6\] Do I multiply those or subtract.

SwaggyMark:

they are seperate

UkuleleGirl:

I was wondering that.

SwaggyMark:

so now you would (x^7)/(x^6)

UkuleleGirl:

thats 1 I think.

UkuleleGirl:

wait. no i subtracted those.

SwaggyMark:

yeah 1x or just x

UkuleleGirl:

oh nvm then

UkuleleGirl:

And then do I subtract 5 and 125

SwaggyMark:

divide

SwaggyMark:

5/125 = 1 / 25

UkuleleGirl:

okay

SwaggyMark:

we end with \[\frac{ x }{ 25y^3 }\]

UkuleleGirl:

Yep thats what I got. Thanks for helping.
