PinkGlitterz:

Basic Trig Question: I have a right triangle with an unknown angle x, and I know the lengths of the opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse. Which trig ratio would I use to find angle x?

PinkGlitterz:

I need to find x I just don't know what trig ratio I'd use lmao

Aspie7:

use tangent of x: 24/7

PinkGlitterz:

okay, what is the reasoning?

jhonyy9:

you can use more sin x = opp. / hyp. cos x = adj. / hyp tan x = opp. / adj. ctg x = adj. / opp.

Vocaloid:

Because you’re given all three sides (opposite, adjacent, hypotenuse) you can use any of the three basic ratios. Usually, however, you’re not given all three sides, so you’d pick a ratio that has only one unknown quantity (the quantity you’re looking to find).
