Okay so I need help in the worst way and it's starting to really affect me. Every time I press a certain key (a 5=, 6=, -=, or decrease volume key) it randomly starts typing equals signs as you can see here and it won't stop unless I press another key. The equals sign button also won't work when I press on it. Is there anything I can do here?
So, I found this here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/equals-key-continuously-typing-when-not-pressed/37324b5b-b5b3-4262-b6a5-8e726155c21b, now idk how to fix it but on here someone might, it's a link to the "equal sign problem" I hope that it helps you, if not I'm terribly sorry.
this is actually not the same problem I'm having, the key isn't stuck, it's just random and it does it when I press certain keys with the equals sign
CAPS maybe?
nevermind, you won't believe this, but my computer fixed itself overnight and today the equals key is suddenly working again. It hasn't worked since September. I'm still not sure if this is a fluke though
You may have spilled something on the keyboard or gotten one of the membranes jammed, therefore making the = Key react to every key you press at the top of your keyboard.
It sounds like you may be experiencing a hardware or software issue with your keyboard. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem: 1. Restart your computer: Sometimes simply restarting your computer can resolve the issue, especially if it's a temporary glitch. 2. Check your keyboard settings: It's possible that your keyboard settings have been changed, causing certain keys to function differently. Check your keyboard settings to make sure everything is configured correctly. 3. Clean your keyboard: Dust and debris can sometimes cause keys to stick or malfunction. Try cleaning your keyboard with compressed air or a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris. 4. Update or reinstall your keyboard drivers: If your keyboard drivers are outdated or corrupted, it can cause issues with certain keys. Try updating or reinstalling your keyboard drivers to see if it resolves the problem. 5. Try a different keyboard: If none of the above solutions work, it's possible that there's a hardware issue with your keyboard. Try connecting a different keyboard to your computer to see if the problem persists. If none of these solutions work, it may be worth contacting your computer manufacturer or a professional technician for further assistance.
