As soon as I saw this thought about how there are two sides with a length of 8 cm and two sides with a length of 5 cm so I thought of parallel lines, but instead of parallel lines think of a shape that have parallel sides, and if you think of more than one shape narrow it down to the shape that makes more since.

I mean take a few minutes to think about some shapes that have parallel sides.

A quadrilateral that has two sides with a length of 8 cm and two sides with a length of 5 cm could be a trapezoid. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides and one pair of non-parallel sides. The parallel sides are called the bases, and the non-parallel sides are called the legs. In this case, the trapezoid would have one base of length 8 cm and another base of length 5 cm, and the legs would each have a length of 5 cm.

If a quadrilateral has all sides of equal length (18 feet) and at least one right angle, it must be a square or a rectangle.
A square is a quadrilateral with four equal sides and four right angles. If the pond were a square, all of its angles would be right angles and all of its sides would be 18 feet long, so it would meet the given conditions.
A rectangle is a quadrilateral with two pairs of equal sides and four right angles. If the pond were a rectangle, it would have two pairs of opposite sides that are equal in length (each 18 feet long) and four right angles.
Therefore, it's possible that the pond could be either a square or a rectangle. However, without additional information about the angles of the quadrilateral, it's impossible to determine for certain which shape it is.
