Yes, I do agree with that idea simply because I feel like music should be written for one's pure enjoyment. Writing music is to make an artist want to write more and not just do it because the audience wants it. Plus, writing music in public can make an artist lose interest in music and not see the fun in it anymore. There are limitations to certain songs, but when artists focus on their passions, they can make really good songs, which the audience would love more. No matter what anyone thinks it’s the artist's song and it should make them feel good.
