It’s basically what they’re using here, “don’t put your eggs in one basket”. Sounds like one thing when it means another.
According to Merriam-Webster, this is their definition of what an idiom is:
An expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements (such as up in the air for "undecided") or in its grammatically atypical use of words (such as give way).
What are your thoughts in what “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” means to you?

Those are just general examples of what idioms are.
It’s also like saying, “Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched”, which would mean not to count on something before it’s already happened.
