??? The rain trickled down the top of the black umbrella in my hand. I walked along the far edge of the sidewalk as cars sped by, splashing water onto the pavement. People hurried past, making their way into buildings or descending the stairs to the subway. Adjusting my tie, I stepped into the tall office building. Shannon greeted me at the door—a short, chubby receptionist with a knack for making anyone smile. As I pushed through the glass doors, she grinned. "Shannon," I said with a nod and a small smile. She scoffed, crossing her arms. "Wow, I practically raised your Cake, and all I get is a 'Shannon'?" she mocked. I chuckled, pausing for a moment before turning to her. "Okay, okay… sorry." She smirked slightly, tilting her head away from me. "You should be." "In my defense—" I started, stepping back in front of her, "I have a huge, super important meeting to get to, so I kinda have to—" She rolled her eyes, waving me off. "Yeah, yeah… go on. You can apologize later when you buy me cheesecake for lunch." I smirked, shaking my head as I turned to leave. "Of course, your majesty..." She snorted at that, smiling as she walked back to her desk. Meanwhile, I made my way toward the back of the office, Holding my umbrella and computer bag in one hand and my coffee in the other. My eyes drifted to the paintings and photographs on the walls. It almost felt like they were staring back at me. Wait… were the lights getting dimmer? And why did it suddenly feel so cold? I glanced up at the lights, then back ahead— "Oof!-" I stumbled back, my coffee slipping from my hands and spilling onto the girl now on the floor. "Oh my go— I'm so sorry!" I blurted, immediately reaching out to help her up. She looked… different from most women i’ve ever seen. Her long, white hair flowed down to her waist, and her figure was more—curvy— than most. Her appearance made her more… ethereal in a way. My eyes snapped back to her face as she stood, a slight pout on her lips. "Were the pictures that mesmerizing?" she asked, she had a slightly irritated tone.. And yet it was still sweet as honey laced with a soft french accent. I stammered, fumbling for words. "W-well, I— I… Sorry…" was all I could manage to get out. Who was this beautiful woman? And why had I never seen her before? A slight smile tugged at the corner of her lips. Almost like she found my nervousness amusing. "It's fine…I’m Daisy," she said, putting her hand out to shake mine. She had pale skin with a soft sun kissed glow.
