Ashes of a Phoenix Chapter 2 “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." -Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The ride to the school is quiet, with occasional stares from the new girl with her hood up. It was bright outside by the time they got to the school, yet Asher’s eyes were closed, trying to get any sort of sleep before school started. During the ride there, she could almost feel when the girl across from her started to stare with her wide eyes. When the driver signaled for them to get off the bus, she stood up and when she did the girl stared up at her, looking almost scared. Usually, Asher was the last one off the crowded bus, but this girl took that this time. She could feel the girl’s presence behind her and had an odd feeling about it, although she just took it as first-day jitters. As Asher made her way toward the main entrance, the bright sunlight and bustling activity of the school campus made Asher uneasy again. The laughter and chatter of the other students seemed to fade into the background as she became hyperaware of her surroundings, searching for any sign of the mysterious, wide-eyed girl from the bus. Before she knew it, the bell had rung for the first class to start. As she found her first class, Asher looked all around for the girl that was on the bus… She had a weird feeling about her. No girl has that pale, that wide-eyed. She’d had an odd feeling the night before, while she was watching the stars play around in the sky. Asher found her class, so she had to shake off the feeling for now, and hope that that girl is in one of her 5 classes, to find out her name. First class of the day, chemistry. Asher never really had an affinity for sciences, but math she could do. Starting high school in sophomore year, this was only her second year there, and barely knew anybody. So, when she had to choose a group to sit in, she was the last person to be seated before the teacher came in. She chose this group of 2 girls and a guy, all good looking. The guy had a seemingly perfect face, brown hair with highlights, and the best thing about him was he had a green and a blue eye. The girls were stereotypical. One was legally blond, with green eyes and hair pulled into a ponytail so tight she looks like she had Botox put in her face. The other one was a definite mean girl, plain brown hair, plain brown eyes, plain clothes, she was plain.

BangchanStan:

(Continuation) Although, plain in a prettier way than most. Asher was pretty herself, but didn’t quite qualify to be put in the same “status” as these other two girls. The guy was quiet while the blond girl rambled on and on about my hair this and guess what happened earlier that, while the guy just awkwardly sat there, and it was quite obvious that he was only popular for his looks, although most likely just his eyes. When the teacher announced the project, the girls all looked at Asher expectantly, like they were just waiting for her to just, offer up doing all the work for them. Like that was going to happen. She knew the girls were going to make her do all the work, but she would only do her part in it and share no answers. Once the teacher stopped blabbering enough to where she could actually think again, Asher stayed quiet, working on her assigned part. The brunette girl coughed. And coughed again. Then the third time, Asher looked up to see the girl staring at her and decided to open her dumb mouth. “You sick or something? Jeez. Don’t cough on me, cover your mouth, what are you, a second grader?” The girl looked dumbfounded, and the blond stared, wide-eyed, as the guy tried and failed to hold back a laugh. It was obvious that the girl couldn’t come up with a good comeback, because she was gaping like a fish out of water. She turned back around and started scribbling on her paper. Brunette turned and asked Blond is she had any clue what the assignment was, and she didn’t know either. Then they asked Guy. “Well if you had been paying attention and actually read the directions, you’d know by now, wouldn’t you?” Now it was Ashers time to hold in a laugh. In sync, both girls looked at her with absolute loathing in their eyes. She looked back at her paper. Twenty minutes later, Asher finished her packet and got up to turn it in. “Um- Where are you going?” asked the Blond, stopping Asher in her tracks. “Turning my paper in? What does it look like?” “Without sharing your answers? That’s rude you know.” “Get your own answers I’m not your scapegoat.” The girls had bewildered looks on their faces as Asher turns around and walks up to the teacher’s desk, handing her the packet.
