xXAikoXx:

What's ethos, pathos, logos?

MrMystery:

Ethos - appeal to credibility (Sorry for the error), basically a way to determine if the author or source is trustworthy

MrMystery:

Pathos - appeal to emotions, in other words writing in a way that it touches your emotions

MrMystery:

And Logos is easiest to remember, it's the appeal to logic, or common sense

ihy:

Ethos, pathos, and logos are the three pillars of persuasion. Ethos appeals to credibility and character, pathos appeals to emotion, and logos appeals to logic and reason.

Breathless:

Ethos (Credibility and Ethics) What it is: An appeal to the speaker's character, credibility, and authority. How it works: The audience is persuaded by the speaker's trustworthiness and expertise on the subject. Example: A doctor discussing a medical topic uses their professional background to build trust and credibility. Pathos (Emotion) What it is: An appeal to the audience's emotions. How it works: Uses storytelling, vivid language, and personal anecdotes to create a strong emotional response in the audience. Example: A commercial for an animal shelter showing sad puppies to evoke sympathy and encourage donations. Logos (Logic and Reason) What it is: An appeal to the audience's sense of logic and reason. How it works: Uses facts, data, statistics, and logical reasoning to build a rational and evidence-based argument. Example: Presenting scientific data and studies to support a claim about climate change.
