Twaylor:

okay serious topic - if you have 0 groups of zero then you have 0 groups of zero, correct?

Twaylor:

so 0/0 is still 0, logically - at least to me it makes sense, how about to you?

22334453:

yes

Twaylor:

I know there is a thing about multiplication, but 0 x 0 is still 0

Extrinix:

To piggyback off of what you said in All Subs, 0/0 isn’t Undefined, it’s considered Indeterminate, which only occurs when the division is zero, by zero. 0x0 is specifically zero because it’s trying to duplicate the group, not to quantify it into a smaller value (as division does, given the numerator is smaller).

Extrinix:

And divide by zero is Undefined when a number is n >= 1

Twaylor:

ive heard it can be infinity and also -infinity at the same time as you get closer to 0/0

Hence why it is considered Indeterminate

Twaylor:

yeah - but if i draw it my brain says its still 0

Twaylor:

what is there is nothing, also known in math as 0

Twaylor:

3d variable

Extrinix:

Let’s put it this way: You can’t put 0 items into 0 groups, as there is simply no group to put “no items”

Twaylor:

i think what my brain is doing is counting 0 as a phyiscal object

Twaylor:

question: why can't I put 0 items into 0 groups?

Twaylor:

I mean if there is no group and no items then there is nothing total

Twaylor:

which in math - is 0

Extrinix:

You’re counting 0 as an object that exists on the same level as (-inf,0),(0,inf), even though it is not on that same level

A remainder of nothing is 0, yes But as it is attempting to quantify 0 items into 0 groups, it will never be able to achieve it

Twaylor:

what would happen if we just counted it as 0?

Twaylor:

how much damage would it do to mathimatics?

Extrinix:

That’s a prediction I’m not able to make, lol

Twaylor:

Think of it like this: "If you had 0 groups of " x "and split them between 0 people, how many would each person get?" The variable x, means nothing in this case, yes? And x may take on any form. But we are using 0 for x, and now the question is: "If you had 0 groups of 0 and split them between 0 people, how many would each person get?" Since there are no groups and no people, each person would get... nothing. Everyone gets nothing, because there's nothing to give. It's a purely conceptual idea: with nothing to divide and no recipients, everyone gets nothing. Logically, in this specific conceptual scenario, you could say 0/0 = 0, because I'm describing a situation where nothing is being divided and nothing is being given.
