How is the frequency of a wave determined and how do you determine it?

Twaylor:

the frequency of a wave is how many times it repeats itself in one second, to find it you can see how long it takes for one full wave to pass by, then figure out how many waves happen in a second. If you know how fast the wave is moving and how far apart the peaks are, you can also figure out its frequency.
