What is St.Patrick's day even supposed to be? What's its purpose? And how do people celebrate it?
Saint Patrick's Day is a holiday that started as a day to honor Saint Patrick, a man who helped spread Christianity in Ireland a long time ago. Over time, the day became a way for Irish people to celebrate their culture and history, not just the religious part. These days the holiday is a lot more about having fun and celebrating Irish culture than anything else. A big thing people do is wear green, because green is strongly connected to Ireland. The reason why you see shamrocks as a symbol for the holiday is because there’s a story that Saint Patrick used the three-leaf clover to explain a Christian idea called the Trinity. Basically it started as a day to remember Saint Patrick, but now it’s mostly just a day where people celebrate Irish culture, wear green, go to parades, and have fun. 🍀
Saint Patrick's Day (March 17) is a holiday honoring Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Originally it was a religious feast day celebrating. Saint Patrick bringing Christianity to Ireland. Today it’s mostly a celebration of Irish culture and heritage, especially in places with many Irish descendants like the United States.
