Tell everyone in the residence to remain silent. 6. If you are arrested, you have the right to remain silent. Do not sign anything until you speak with a lawyer. Do not sign any papers without a lawyer present. WHAT TO DO IF STOPPED BY FEDERAL AGENTS - NON-IMMIGRANTS 1. Ask for and write down the officer’s agency, name and badge number. 2. Say out loud that you do not want to answer any questions. 3. Ask if you’re free to go. Walk away calmly if so. 4. Say loudly that you do not consent to a search of your person or bags. If you are searched, do not fight and restate that you do not consent to a search. 5. If you are arrested, remain silent and ask for a lawyer. Do not sign any papers without a lawyer present. Statement : "I do not wish to speak with you, answer your questions, or sign or hand you any documents based on my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. I do not give you permission to enter my home based on my 4th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution unless you have a warrant to enter, signed by a judge or magistrate with my name on it that you slide under the door. I do not give you permission to search any of my belongings based on my 4th Amendment rights. I choose to exercise my constitutional rights." This is available to citizens and noncitizens alike.
