Are you dividing x - 2 / x^2 + 2x - 10 or the other way around?

I am dividing x-2 into x^2 + 2x - 10.

Ok, then I think that means you want x^2 + 2x - 10 / x - 2.

So: ____________________ x - 2| x^2 + 2x - 10 First off, multiply x - 2 by x to get the x^2 term: _x___________________ x - 2 | x^2 + 2x - 10 x^2 - 2x -------- - 10 So the result is x with a remainder of -10. Someone correct me if I'm wrong :)
