how do i convert 51ft = into yd

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Do you know how many feet are in a yard?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes 3ft

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Ok. So you can say: \[51\text{ ft} \cdot \frac{1\text{ yd}}{3\text{ ft}}\]

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

The key here is that the feet in the second part are on the bottom, so that they cancel out the feet with the 51 and leave only yards.
