hi, i need some help. y=4x^3-25x^2+15x-54/x-6 if x<6 y=-5x^2+6x+a if 6< or = to x what is the value of a in order to make the function continuous at 6?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

If you find the limit of the first function (for < 6) as x approaches 6 from the negative side, that will tell you the value that the second function needs to have to make the function continuous at 6. Does that make sense/help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks yes it does.

Awesome!
