It is a matter of transposing by cross multiplying...the idea is to find 'x'...hence you start by multiplying both sides of the equation by 500 to eliminate it from the left hand side...i.e \[500* (x)/500=500*(5)/100\]thus, 500/500 = 1, so you left with x on the left hand side 500/100 = 5, 5 *5=25 you left with 25 on the right hand side so x = 25...is that good enough or you need more explanation?
