so is everyone in college here or there are some high schoolers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are high schoolers, college students and teachers here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool, so can anyone tell me what programming language is used (generally) in college,?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you'll have to ask the computer group, go to home and click on MIT computer science

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first you'll have to learn it to create your own programs in the near future, every IT student MUST know how to program :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have worked with PAscal few simple programs, but right now I am learning C++ myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why are you learning C++? It's not used anymore, learn java, it's widely spread at the moment and everyone is using java right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought that you ahd to learn c++ before learning java..... :s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, they are the same, but no need. You can start fresh with Java without using C++.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, I am pretty confused, however, where do I find tutorials for Java, just google???? and sorry if I am asking a stupid question but when I learned c++ I used the program DevC++ to compile, what about java, what should I use?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly! but I advise you to go to youtube, it explains everything about java in a very SIMPLE way :) download netbeans :) just google it ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanx a bunch I am getting ready for college so I pretty need programming

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no need, you are most welcome, try this link to download netbeans http://netbeans.org/ and I advise you to choose the one that can compile all programming languages :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

choose the one with (all) :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, found it :D thanx again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np ^_^

Another good language that is very similar to Java is C#. It works with the .NET framework and is basically like Microsofts version of Java. I believe Microsoft has a bare bones Visual Studio package you can download that has the C# complier in it. My workplace is cutting edge with their web design and things and they use C# because of the .NET framework.

I am going to a University for a bachelors in computer science and most of the language I use is Java. If you know one, learning the other is easy ;-)
