plz explain the composition of functions in terms of more than one variable?

ok so traditionally we say that a function is only dependent on x.
Hence we write it as f(x) = y or just f(x). So there is some function f(x) in which x is the ONLY independent variable. Therefore, the function only depends on x.

Now say for more realistic world situation, say we want to model the temperature in a room. And a room is a 3D coordinate system with axis x, y, z representing height, width, and length.

So now our function of temperature T = f(x, y, z) = zy^2+yx^2+x

so for more realistic world situations we have functions that are usually more than one variables.
