A pure sample of a compound that contains lithium and hydrogen weighs 0.537 g. If the sample is found to contain 0.469 g of lithium, what is the empirical formula of the compound?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you need atomic mass to do this. so you have .537g - .469 g = . 068g Hydrogen. atomic mass of Li is 6.94 g/mol and H is 1.01 g/mol. it's about .067 mols of Hydrogen and .067 mols of Lithium so the empirical formula is LiH. my chemistry is a little rusty but i think that is the solution.
