Integrals & Even functions??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given that f is an even function and \[\int\limits_{0}^{2}f(t)dt=17\], what is \[\int\limits_{-2}^{2}f(t)dt\]?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it is twice the area right? so from [-2,2] the area = 34..if I recall correctly

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or you could simply move the function over by +2\[\int\limits_{0}^{4}f(x+2)dx\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe that should be f(x-2)....kinda fuzzy about that part :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but if anything, just double your [0,2] answer.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I wasn't sure if the answer was 0 or 34. Becuase I thought one area would cancel out the other at times. So it doesn't? You just add them?
