Mathematics 15 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/2 (8)^(2x) + 2 = 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4^2x=11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now try logarithmic algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2xln4 = ln 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that doesn't work actually... I'm not sure you can multiply 8 by 1/2 to begin with, and I'm not sure how you got 11 on the other side of the equation. What I get is more like 8^2x = 14 and then you solve with logs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is difficult to type math so I don't know what is meant by 1/2 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation is written like 1/2 should by multiplied by 8. the class teacher tells us to multiply by 2 in this instance on both sides to get rid of the fraction. I just wasn't sure how to bring the exponent down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That 11 should have been 7 .... 9-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You bring down the exponent by using logarithms, ln

ok, thanks so much everyone!!
