that doesn't work actually... I'm not sure you can multiply 8 by 1/2 to begin with, and I'm not sure how you got 11 on the other side of the equation. What I get is more like 8^2x = 14 and then you solve with logs

The equation is written like 1/2 should by multiplied by 8. the class teacher tells us to multiply by 2 in this instance on both sides to get rid of the fraction.
I just wasn't sure how to bring the exponent down.
