In the figure above, AB is the diameter of the circle with center O and ABCD is a square. What is the area of the shaded region in terms of r?

bc=ab=2r right
area of sqare=ab*bc=2r*2r=4r^2
area of half circle=(pi*r^2)/2
shaded area = area of sqare-area of half circle
=>(4r^2)-(pi*r^2)/2
therefore answer :r^2[4-(pi/2)]
