Find the rank and nullity of the matrix A=1 1 -1 -1 -3 -3 rank(A)=? nullity(A)=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to write this matrix in row reduced echelon form?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

rank 1 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it appears that row or column vectors are just multiplies of the other/same as so only 1 independantly linear vector is produced

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since it has only one leading 1 entry.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

got no clue as what a nulitty is ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's right. The nullity + rank is equal to the number of columns. In this case, it's 2-1=1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that help zebani?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is correct thanks for helping =))
