Curl and Divergence: If the the vector field F is velocity what is the physical interpretations of curl F and div F?
oh comeon...thats in the next few chapters lol
div F refers to the amt of material coming in or out of a certain surface which is chosen
so the Flux?
its the volume integral of the div
Wait div of F is the amount going in or out so that is Flux right?
no flux is actually the volume integral of the div...physically u can see that divergence refers to how much of a sink or source of the field is present at that point
In this case the vector field is velocity so what does it mean the amount of velocity going in or out?
div is actually a representative indicator of how much is coming out or going in, and its volume integral is the amount that goes in or comes out
like this is generally studied as the velocity of a fluid, so the divergence refers to how much fluid is coming out or going out of that point
Since the curl is another vector what does it represent?
the curl is the tendency of the fluid to rotate about an axis
Nevermind
SO there can only one curl say of a tornado right? its the center point and it point down...
yeah..sort of..bt thats mechanical rotation as well
KK thank you.
hey romero divergence is the volume integral of flux..see flux shows how much is coming out of a particular surface..bt when u do a volume integral, it gives u d actual amt...sorry..
