Find the indicated derivative: d^2/dx^2 ((x^2-4x)(d/dx(x+5x^-1))))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a tedious, but not very difficult process. What part are you having trouble with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

getting the correct answer from the choices given...lol first we take the derivative of the inside and then take the derivative twice from that answer right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay, you don't have to work this one out, I have to move onto my next quiz, but thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, looks like you would end up with 1-5x^-2 from the derivative inside the parentheses, then multiply that out to get x^2 - 4x + 20x^-1 - 5, then take two derivatives of that, which is just the power rule used twice on each term.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what are the choices given? just derive them till you get this answer ;)
