Aha! 625 - 500 = 125, which is 1.25 standard deviations from the mean (i.e. the z-score is 1.25). Look up the normal table. Area from 0 to z is 0.3944. Area from 0 to -infinity is 0.5. Add the two together to get the area from -infinity to z=1.25 = 0.8944. So, 89.44% of students get less than 625.
