In excel I have drawn a graph and added a trend line. I have asked excel to show a trend line and also give an equation for this line. The equation is as follows: y = 0.0305x + 2E-05 What is the "E" in this equation, and if I know my "y" how do I solve the equation for x?

Of course I can only recommend you to use free software... The E stands for the scientific notation of numbers. It means \[a\mathrm{E}n = a\cdot 10^n\] So the E stands for exponential. And you can solve for x simply by subtracting and dividing.
Using this equation: y = 0.0305x + 2E-05 Could you solve for x, letting y = 0.0071? Thank you in advance.
Just calculate \[x = \frac{y-0.00002}{0.0305}\]
