OpenStudy (anonymous):
all u have to do is 4*53. Your remainder is the numerator and the number on the side is your whole number answer.
OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but when you have 4(1/3) for example than think about it as addition, so it is 4+1/3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
4 2/9 *9 is the first example
OpenStudy (anonymous):
4 2/9= 4+2/9
(4+2/9)*9=4*9+2=38
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lets do number 4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I am confused why did you add it twice

4 2/9= 4+2/9
is this clear?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok, so when you write 4 2/9 *9 means that you multiply everything with 9
so it is =(4+2/9)*9
when you multiply a bracket you multiply with every term so 4*9+2/9*9=36+2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok that makes sense that is what I was confused about
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lets do 4 maybe it will be clearer after that

OpenStudy (anonymous):
3 3/5 * 2 7/9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now that is (3+3/5)(2+7/9)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
* is missing between the brackets
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what is missing brackets

have you done multiplication like this before?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not for a while
OpenStudy (anonymous):
* is missing (multiplication sign)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you have to multiply everything with everything
(3+3/5)*(2+7/9)= 3*2+3*7/9+3/5*2+3/5*7/9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok I think I understand
