Question

I feel Like I've tried everything, but I simply cannot get anything to run in IDLE. I've put in the Path in different variations. I used the default download settings. I downloaded 2.5.4 for the course and I get Traceback, NameError, and Syntax Errors in the process. I'm running Windows Vista 64bit.
Also, will 2.6-2.7 work for this course on Ubuntu 32bit or Ubuntu Server 64bit.
It seems like it's a path issue, but I've yet to figure it out the past 3 days. It's very very frustrating.

I don't know the answer to either of your questions, the best I can do is tell you exactly what I do to open mine... on Windows, I downloaded the default settings, so I have no shortcut on my desktop, I need to pysically go into My Computer, Windows (c drive) Python27, lib, idlelib, and double click on the second idle. Then in the options bar in the Shell, I go to file then New Window. I save my programs into a folder somewhere else, always remembering to save them as name.py and then just run module.
Sorry if that is irrelevant to you, just thought it may be worthwhile in case you missed something in the normal running.

Well, the only thing I wasn't doing was opening up a new window after running the IDLE. Then saving the new window script as a .py file before running. I was trying to run it without a new window straight into the IDLE prompt. I figured it out after watching the second half of the second lecture. Thank You for the response. I feel relieved now that I can practice the scripts.
