The vertices of a triangle are located at A(0,-8), B(-4,4) and C(2,6). If the triangle is dilated about the origin with a scale factor of 1/2 , what are the coordinates of C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get the relation to the origin. It is not on the origin.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it means what I would call an enlargement with centre (0,0), well that's what we call it in england, in which case the co-ordinates of c under the enlargement would be (1,3).

Thanx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, so it is saying, if the graph is enlarged by a factor of 1/2, what are the coordinates of C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I think so.
