cant really see it happening without more info; but then, I dont know it all :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I was thinking that amistre.
OpenStudy (amistre64):
theres prolly some ration geometry formula for it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
^What i was thinking =) I don't know how to solve that lol

Like an angle or something?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the formula is 10^2=(21y)(y), i'm pretty suree...then you simplify it?
myininaya (myininaya):
10^2=21y^2?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how'd you get that formula? did the question give it to you?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
it's how you solve those kind of problems. i put the numbers in i just have to simplify it.

whats the formula to use?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
10^2=(21y)(y)
OpenStudy (amistre64):
10^2 = 20y i think
OpenStudy (amistre64):
10^2 = (21+y)(y) right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what grade are you in ?!?!

ummm..... the 35th grade if were counting lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
^^win
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so you guys are old? that explains it
OpenStudy (amistre64):
well, IM old lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm 20 xP

haha oooookay..............
OpenStudy (amistre64):
10^2 = (21+y)(y); i think this is the right formula, got it from a secant tangent sitse
OpenStudy (anonymous):
YES! Secant tangent!!!
OpenStudy (amistre64):
100 = 21y +y^2
y^2 +21y -100 = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm soooooo screwed..

OpenStudy (amistre64):
-21/2 + sqrt(21^2 -4(-100))/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
therefore y^2+21y-100=0 solve as a quadratic y=-25 and y=4, however i guess since its a measurement u ignore the negative calue and only use 4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Forget this. Thanks for trying, guys. I love you even though you failed me <3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
NICK I LOVE YOU.
OpenStudy (amistre64):
4s good when I can count right lol

the formula is 10*10=y(21+y)
100=21y+y^2
y^2+21y-100=0

oh its upside down lol

myininaya (myininaya):
\[y=\frac{-21 \pm \sqrt{21^2-4*1*(-100)}}{2} \]
myininaya (myininaya):
\[y=\frac{-21 \pm \sqrt{841}}{2}\]
myininaya (myininaya):
we will ignore the negative value since we are looking for a measurement
myininaya (myininaya):
y=4
