which measure?
a^2+b^2=c^2 The 2 sides plus the longest side.

see Pythagoras statement says "Sum of squares of other two sides = square of Hypotenuse
If H = Hypotenuse B = Base P = Perpendicular then \[H ^{2} = P ^{2} + B ^{2}\]

it measures sides not angles.
So if u hv measures of two sides, you can put them in the equation and find the measure of the third side i.e length of the missing side
