6 to the 4th power can be written as 6^4. how you do a problem like this is multiply the base (6) by the exponent (^4) the number of times the exponents suggests. so 6^4 would look like \[6\times6\times6\times6\]

you would solve this by multiplying 6 x 6=36, 36 x 6=216, 216 x 6=1296

another example would be 2^3. this would look like 2 x 2 x 2= 8
