What are the four levels of protein structure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Primary structure, secondary structure, tertiary structure, and quaternary structure.

a) Primary structure (which is basically your sequence in a somewhat linear form amino acids). To keep this one straight think of a simple line which is one-dimensional. b) Secondary Structure (this consists of the alpha helix and beta-pleated sheets). Think of this as the two-dimensional structure of protein so think of a regular sheet of paper. c) Tertiary Structure (this is going to be a three-dimensional globular structure of a protein). So now think of a piece of paper that got crumpled up into a ball. d) Quaternary Structure (this is going to be like 2 tertiary structures combined) So think of 2 crumpled up paper balls being squished together haha *** Hope this helped :)
