for this equation 2x 3 - 11x 2 + 12x + 9 = 0. 3 is a zero of multiplicity of what?? how would i find this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first of all check that 3 is a zero. then factor as (x-3) q(x) then find the zeros of q(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in fact this factors as \[(x-3)^2(2x+1)\] so 3 is a zero of "multiplicity" 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 being the exponent on the factor (x-3). for the graph this means the curve touches the x-axis at 3 but does not cross
