OpenStudy (anonymous):

a figure has a vertex at (5,2). If the figure has a line of symmetry about the y-axis, what are the coordinates of another vertex of the figure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

line of symmetry about the y axis means every point in the figure has a corresponding point that is reflected across the y axis. to reflect across the y axis, you just negate the x coordinate. see: http://bit.ly/judiXv

OpenStudy (a_clan):

draw a perpendicular from (5,2) on y-axis. Find the length of this perpendicular. The other vertex is at the same distance away from y-axis on the opposite side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright.. i think i did it right, can i get an answer to check?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get? ;-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3,2..? I'm not sure how to draw the line because i dont have a graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should follow my instructions, and the link I posted.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(which shows you the answer to this question plotted on a graph)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to reflect in the y axis, just negate the x coordinate. to reflect in the x axis, just negate the y coordinate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So where do i input the information?
