2 2 3x + 7+x and 10 +2x-x how do you add this its a polynomial question. Also the 2 on top means squared.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x is squared ans x is squared as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You add terms with same degree. Therefore, \[2x ^{2}+3x+17\] is an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u please show me the order because my teacher confused me and the book im studying said you have to add them by biggest to smallest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

biggest to smallest DEGREE will be a better expression. First, you add \[3x ^{2}\] and \[-x^{2}\] which gives you \[2x^{2}\] Then, you add x and 2x which gives you 3x. Finally you add 7 With 10 which gives you 17. You know 7 and 10 are constants with 0 degrees, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also do you always add the numbers without variables or degrees last?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x^2 + 7+x +(10 +2x-x^2) 3x^2 + 7+x + 10 +2x-x^2 \[3x ^{2}-x ^{2}+x+2x+10+7\] \[2x ^{2}+3x+17\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you don't have to add terms in specifical order. All you have to do is make sure you add terms with same degree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what happends when 2 numbers on the same side hav the same degree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you simply add them. ex) 3\[3x ^{2} + x + 2x ^{2} = (3x ^{2} + 2x ^{2}) + x = 5x ^{2} + x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ignore 3 beside "ex)" :)
