No, I mean the actual core binary principles. Not a calculator. I need to understand the principles, not just calculate.

Subnetting is the act of breaking up a network into separate parts so that one can have multiple (sub)networks on a larger network. With the introduction of IPV6 subnetting will more than likely slowly disappear. When you subnet you take parts of the host address and change it to a network address.

The first link has all the information you need to understand subnetting and IP Addresses the second one to help you with the calculation and check your understanding

Its similar to your phone number: country code + area code + phone number

If you still need help with Subnetting I can give you a set of base10 (the numbers we use) to base2 (Binary 1s and 0s) My networking instructor gave me! At first I could NOT do it even with a calculator, until he had me write down a scale and a break down. After that I had no further problems! Let Me Know!!

it is a process of breaking a large network into smaller ones , which helps in achieving security, speed and minimal congestion. it is of two type 1: based on network (where networks are divided into smaller networks) 2: based on hosts (where number of hosts are divided in smaller network group)
