Foxes: Rabbits: Plants. Foxes disappear, rabbit population increases as a result. These then consume large portions of plant material in the area and destroy this as a food source for themselves.

You could use Easter Island as an example. Easter Island used to have ancient , now extinct, giant palm trees. When settlers came they brought rats and the rats ate the seeds of the palm trees. the rats reproduced at such a fast rate that the slow growing palm trees couldn't keep up with the rate their seeds were being consumed., resulting the ancient palm to no longer exist. originally blamed on the natives for excessive harvest, but later the rat was seen as the culprit.
