Why do you suppose the Founding Fathers chose to allow the institution of slavery to continue in the United States??
First of all you have to keep in mind that today we have a completely different outlook on slavery than the founding fathers did. Back then it was much more widely accepted, and not looked down upon. Slaves also were a huge part of the success of the first colonies in North America. When settlers first got here they were struggling and most of them died in the winter. That changed when people started planting Tobacco. People began to prosper because of Tobacco and they couldn't keep up with the demand for Tobacco in England once people got addicted, so the started using slaves. The slaves boosted their Tobacco farms and were eventually the base of soon-to-be America's wealth. Simply outlawing slavery when America was formed would have been very controversial. Unfortunately it only grew to be a more and more fought over topic, and it wasn't until Lincoln's time that people decided it was worth banning.
The inclusion of slavery (for a limited time) was included in the constitution as a compromise for northern states so that southern states would agree to ratify it.
their economy was built on the backs of slaves. Their exports were in order to purchase more slaves to produce products to export and it became cyclical.
The answer is simple it was not seen as an immoral thing at that point in time.Morals change as time passes.Who knows killing animals might be seen as an immoral thing after 200 years from now.
Slaves were seen as property, not as Humans.
It was indeed included as a compromise between the norther and southern states. It was specifically worded in such a way that (property) that when it was abolished nothing would need to be changed (afterwards the 3/5 rule was added and that made it a little more obvious)
Statistically, there are more humans today that would qualify as slaves then at any point in history. They just are not (openly) in this country.
