Harkirat is corect so long as the diaginal goes though the verticies (I'm assuming such from the fact that tringales are the assumed result. Such is actually the proof of the area of the triangle.

In a rectangle a diagonal is a line segment joining non-adjacent vertices, so it has to pass through the opposite vertices...
