Anyone else taking calc III over summer??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Already taken xP However, I'm taking pellet-retricechemistry over the summer :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

General Chemistry?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

calc 1; get to trudge thru calc 2 in the fall ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, general.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Shush amistre.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not taking Chemistry until last semester before I graduate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't realize so many responded even though i was checking -- this site has changed since the last time I was on it haha. Im taking it in Southern California at a local community college how about you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh im guessing you meant "what are you learning right now"....right now i'm learning: calculus with vector functions, tangent normal and binormal vectors, arc length with vector functions, curvature, and a little bit of velocity and acceleration stuff....all withing two days this was taught...and have a test on all of this and some prior stuff on weds.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ewww chemistry..good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just got all with those stuff, now we are doing partial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any advice for the test on that stuff? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its rough for me to fully grasp cuz i never learned parametric equations in calc II.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have any questions just post it :P Thats my advice. I can help you with it if need be xP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My community had pretty easy test,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i'm hopping it will b easy cuz i could see that a prof. could easily make the test extremely hard. But with learning this stuff in two class days, they can't make it too hard. Malevolence: Thanks, yeah I'll let you know/post questions when I come across any problems. Right now I'm just reading through the sections

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Magnitude will end up being 1 which will make it easier to find tangent, normal vector

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What major are you uphil? Just curious.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll be a soph. next semester so its still pretty early. And I still really want to take a Comp. Sci. class. But i'll most likely (and hopefully) decide after this spring semester. Because I'll be exposed to all the pre-upper division classes of the stuff that i'm considering. Anyways, right now I am on track for a double major in Econ and Math. Whether I stick with that is up in the air. Like I said, by the end of spring i'll decide on either a double or a major in one and a minor in the other...or maybe something completely different?? Hope not :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You gonna be taking a lot more math classes if you are a math major

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I know that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to take differential eq and linear algebra then I am done with math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U doin physics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, elec engineering

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gotcha. I'm a math and physics double major. I'm a senior (as of this fall).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh mal asked the question.. just realized

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Grats thats sweet. What phys elective are u taking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I took Classical Mechanics last fall and it was hell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Grats on electrical though imran^^ Heard that wasn't too easy either haha. uphil-As far as physics electives are concerned, I'm actually not taking alot of them. At the university I got to, any 3000-up math class counts as a physics elective. So I'm taking general relativity and intro particle physics, but other than that its just about all math (topology, complex analysis, number theory, real analysis, partial differential equations, etc). I want to focus more on math (opposite of what I expected going into college)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heard physics 2 is worse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its just so much more interesting to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do You like applied math or pure math better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pure. Absolutely. I'm taking partial diffeq because I should have "computational experience" when applying for grad school.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have difficulty understanding something that is abstract ; helps me learn better if I know what something is used for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, some people are like that. I'm more of a person where, I can study something whether its practical or not, useful or not, or it doesn't even have to exist. lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My calc III instructor from community is from last century. To plot 3 dimensional , she plot y and z axis on the board and x axis on a paper she hold against the board. That's make no sense to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol. Well thats odd haha.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she's never heard of wolfram alpha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But community college is much cheaper than my uni

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha thats dumb how she graphs ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really want to take geometry, topology, and i'll HAVE to take real analysis, not totally psyched for that htough

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know but I tune out because that confuses me and everyone else. She could use wolfram alpha make it easier for everyone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have to take reals but its recommended, its either now or grad school :/ I've heard topo is just as hard as reals though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about abstract algebra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate the guy who teaches it at my school >.> I know that helps though :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Abstract isn't too bad.
