been working that question all weekend it starts as 1/4x^2-2√3x=3 the furthest I can figure is the first step which is to convert to quad equation of 1/4x^2 -2√3x-3=0 now what help!!!

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

use the formula

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

and this, this is the Quad form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did but cant get rid of the 2√3 at the end and from the multiple choices there is no radical in the end result.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

i gav u the decimal ans.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

otherwise, solve the value of this in your calc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL Im new where and how please tell me how I care more about the how then answer

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

OH, Okay!

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

This is the Quadratic formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know quad but how did you get rid of the 2√3 at the end?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

it wont be there in the End.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

as u r going to solve it further.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay first I have 2√3+_ 2√3^2 -4(.25)(3) over 2(.25) right?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

answered this on your other post

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry Im new and havent yet got the hang of navagating this site

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can somebody tell me how you arrived at the answer please??? I know quad equation but the 2√3 has me for a loop how do I undo the radical???

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

thats ok Since it equals 0, multiply equation by 4 x^2 - 8sqrt3 x -12 = 0 use quadratic formula x = [8sqrt3 +-sqrt(192+48)] / 2 x = 14.67, -.817

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

here u go, Rickie. ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you Thank You so much muwahh a weekend mind bender solved MUCHO GRACIAS its not the answer but how is what I need wow thanks so much whew now I can sleep tonite lol..lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

o.O

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

the 192 comes from squaring (-8sqrt(3)) 8*8=64, sqrt3*sqrt3 = 3 64*3 = 192 your welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay but where did the 1/4x^2 go>?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ignore the > symbol lol..lol

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

1/4 * 4 = 1 i multiplied everything by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH pellet lol..lol.. but why 4? how did you know 4 ( I swear im not a idiot lol please bear with me)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha i chose 4 because i wanted to get rid of the fraction the fraction was 1/4, if you multiply by the denominator it cancels

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am bowing to you right now I get it didnt know you could do that so everything in the equation has to be multiplied by 4 and it evens the playing ground ?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

remember when you do this you have to do it to both sides in this case right side was zero so it didn't change

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the zero stays zero then you work the problem like a radical equation? not a quad equation ? you just started in quad?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well its still a quadratic, just no fraction to worry about just use the quadratic formula make sure you plug in the correct a,b,c coefficients

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

the fact that it has a x^2 term, makes it quadratic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

God bless thank you so much♥♥♥♥♥

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im taking Collage Algerbra a sixteen week course in six weeks lol..lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eventually going for my doctorate in nursing

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah for summer huh...awesome good luck with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You have a great one will look for you on here again should I need...Your fantastic not just an answer but a explaination. I hope your a Math Professor♥♥

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye see ya around

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha..aspiring teacher lets put it that way bye
