Please explain the closure property in the following set: 1.)The set of even numbers is closed under addition. 2.) {-1,0,1} is closed under addition and multiplication.

and with the second part -1+0 , 0+1 , -1 +1 all result in answers in the set

Closure means you can perform the given operations on ANY elements in the set, and you will ALWAYS get back a member of that set.

2 is not closed, since 1+1 = 2 and 2 is not in the set.
