i will attached a photo of it. please use the rule of exponent. help me. i have my answer but 'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is my asnwer "-5^2 / 5^3 am i right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

great, now im blind :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\frac{-5^2}{5^3 x^0}\] is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-1*5^2 * 5^-3 = -1* 5^(2-3) -1 * 5^-1 = -1/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the answer? so i'm wrong?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats the answer I get; so either youre wrong or i am :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know?! :))

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we both have the same answers; mine just simplified

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^0 is 1 becauyse anything^0 = 1. so now you have -5^2/5^3. Subtract exponents to get -1/5^1, which is -1/5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know the answer? i forgot how to do solve this!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3a^-4.b^-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the same answer by just using cancellation. \[3/a^{4}b^{8}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

works either way
