Consider the following expression: m^3+3m^2-2m+24 ____________________ m^2-5+5 Divide the polynomial in the numerator by the trinomial in the denomiator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m + 3 -2/m + 24/m²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m+3-2 ________ m+24m^2??????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should not the trinomial be m^2-5m+5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not for sure.... do you know for sure???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i'm pretty sure - what u wrote is not a trinomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is it supposed to be wrote???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is a term in m^2 , a term in m and a number m^2-5+5 = m^2 thats why i suggested that the middle term should be 5m - maybe you made a typo m^2-5m+5 ) m^3+3m^2-2m+24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the denominator is m^2-m+5..... sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok - thats alright

OpenStudy (anonymous):

division gives m + 4 with a remainder of -3m + 4 ) which can be written as m + 1 + (4 - 3m) / (m^2-m+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correction - the last line is m + 4 + (4 - 3m) / (m^2-m+5)
